Major Activities

1. Beijing International Model United Nations (BIMUN)

From 15 institutions to over 300 delegates from 38 top universities and 20 high schools from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, China Foreign Affairs University Model United Nations Association has successfully held 13 national level Beijing Model United Nations (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016), which has become the flagship conference in China. Notably, Beijing Model United Nations 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016 received Letters of Congratulations from Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, United Nations Secretary General.

In 2017, the conference has been rebranded as Beijing International Model United Nations to seize its opportunity of setting the platform as an international conference and enhancing its essence of innovation-driven development.

Beijing International Model United Nations continues to attract groups of university and high school students that have passion for diplomacy and Model United Nations thanks to its high standard, high level and adherence to academics, and the Association has also gradually grown to a professional Model United Nations organization. It has accumulated abundant conference hosting experience and has cultivated generations of Model United Nations participants in China Foreign Affairs University with the spirit of exploration, and is continuing to contribute its strength to hosting higher level Model UN activities and promoting the development of such activities in China.

2. China Foreign Affairs University Model United Nations (CFAUMUN)

The first in-school Model UN conference in China Foreign Affairs University was held in May 2006 after one month’s preparation of the Association and made an impact in the university, with students participating actively. Then Vice President of the United Nations Association of China, Mr. Pang Sen, then Party Secretary and Deputy President of the University, Mr. Qin Yaqing and then Assistant President of the University, Mr. Zheng Qirong participated in the Opening Ceremony and delivered keynote speeches.

Since 2007, exchange students from France, Brazil and Colombia have been invited to the conference in an effort to promote foreign exchange. From 2008 to 2016, 9 CFAUMUN conferences were held; the committee of Joint Crisis Cabinets was introduced in the process and was eventually promoted to the national conference.

CFAUMUN conferences have selected outstanding participants for the future development of the Association as well as provided a platform for students to communicate with and learn from each other, enabling them to gain knowledge about world affairs and international organizations. They have also become the experiment field for Beijing International Model United Nations.

3. Academic Training

Each time before the opening of CFAUMUN or BIMUN, the Association organizes specialized academic trainings targeted at participants, providing them with rules of procedure training, topic analysis and mock conferences and allowing them to better understand the operations of a Model UN conference. The Association also collects the feedback from delegates after such trainings through questionnaires to improve future training sessions. Apart from that, the Association also cooperates with High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China Chaoyang Branch School International Division and Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, presenting selective classes on Model United Nations for their students, and is exploring future possibilities to collaborate with other institutions to standardize the training procedures and establish training mechanisms.

4. The Frontier Magazine

The Frontier Magazine was introduced in November 2013 as the first magazine published by the Association. It was aimed to provide in-depth commentaries on hot issues for students within and outside the Association, increase the understanding of global affairs of the students of the University, and rise the academic influence of the Association. The Frontier is the first original Model UN related magazine in China and represents the highest academic standards of the Association.

Began in 2013, The Frontier will carry the hopes of school officials and former Presidents and Secretary-Generals of the Associations and sail towards a brighter future.
